What are Flame Retardant Coatings?

The main purpose of fire retardant paints and coatings is to stop the flame and fire from spreading over the surface of a substrate. This is achieved by releasing a flame-dampening gas when it becomes too hot.


Over Coating Existing Painted Surfaces

We can advise on flame retardant products which can be applied over previously decorated surfaces as a fire upgrade to achieve BS Class 1 and Class 0 (ES EN B). All of these products are available in various finishes and colours including;
  • Matt & Silk emulsion
  • Gloss and Satin WB finish for woodwork and enamels
Using fire protective coatings will not compromise your aesthetic decorating finish.

The Fire Safety Order 2005 applies to all multi-occupied residential buildings, commercial properties, shops, offices, businesses, schools, colleges, care homes, hospitals, and public sector buildings.
